Tampa Heights Cleanup Days

Want to show a bit of Civic pride? Please join us on Saturday August 9th when we will be having a neighborhood clean up day in conjunction with the City of Tampa Clean Sweep in Tampa Heights. We are looking for volunteers to help in the 4 quadrants to help pick up trash and other items.

After the clean up, we will be hosting a neighborhood picnic at the Waterworks Park behind Stetson Law School.

More information will be emailed and posted on our website www.TampaHeights.org as we get closer.

Next Tampa Heights Civic Association meeting

If you are interested in attending the next Board Meeting, it will be held on June 11th at 7:00pm at Stetson Law School on Tampa Street. We will be formulating our Civic Association Mission Statement, and would like to have as many community members input. They can review the Vision Statement that was used to build our Neighborhood Plan several years ago. Here is the link.

Next THCA meeting - 5/22

Topic: Taste of the Heights

The THCA General meeting will start at 6:30 pm Thursday May 22nd, with a "Taste of the Heights". The Tampa Heights Civic Association has made arrangements to have several local restaurants feature some of their menu items for the residents of Tampa Heights. The tasting event with start at 6:30 followed by a fashion show from the students at D.W. Waters Career Center in Tampa Heights. We want to showcase and show our support for the local eateries within our neighborhood. Please invite a neighbor to come along.

Tampa Heights Updates 12/17

Tampa Heights Civic Association Holiday Social will be held on Thursday 12-20-07 at Stetson University in room 136. Please come out and bring a dish for the event.

Arlington Avenue Crime Watch will be hosting a Crime Watch Meeting at 6:30 pm, immediately prior to the Holiday Social - Stetson University, room 136.

Please remember Tampa Heights Civic Association election of officers will be at the January 24, 2008, meeting at Stetson University. Names of Candidates for office can be submitted at the meeting.

TAMPA RIVERWALK TO RECEIVE $2 MILLION IN STATE FUNDING

The Tampa Heights Civic Association sent this bit in their latest newsletter:

We are pleased to inform you that The Tampa Riverwalk was granted $2 million in funding from the State of Florida when Gov. Crist signed the FY08 State budget last week. This is an exciting moment and a great step forward for the Riverwalk. The earmark will supplement the construction funding of the History Center Riverwalk segment and fund the design of Kennedy Plaza, the over water connection between Curtis Hixon Park and the Sheraton Tampa Riverwalk Hotel. Please share this wonderful news with your respective groups that you each represent. Thank you for your continued support of The Tampa Riverwalk!
