Neighborhood map

Thanks to the Seminole Heights blog for providing this map link. It shows all the neighborhoods for the majority of Tampa.

Finally, I have a clear picture of Old, South and Southeast Seminole Heights and how it relates to Tampa Heights. VM Ybor and Ybor Heights, too.

In other news, it looks like the old Blue Ribbon grocery on Columbus and Tampa is being cleaned out. There's a long dumpster out there full of furniture and fixtures. Has anyone heard of any plans for that space?

  1. Blue Ribbon Supermarket - I was just wondering what was going on, as well..... Then I found you, the very kind gentleman whom commented up on my FLBRASKA comment on the Tampa Heights message board.... Are we considered nosey neighbors? LOL :-)

The plant bandit has not struck again, however, I am close to discovering his true identity!!! I have seen him twice in the passed week, walking with uprooted plants (in-hand)and a dirty duffle bag. Still no return calls from the police.... I am considering a professional career as a detective, specializing in landscape.... :-)

    Thanks for the comment!

  2. Hi Lorie! Well, I hope we're not considered nosey neighbors - just concerned! :D

Good to hear the plant bandit's not been back. I'm prone to brown widow infestations on my front porch, so I feel bad for anyone trying to lift pots off my porch, they might get a little surprise!

  4. Ok, I spoke too soon.... All but one of the events have occurred while my fiancé (recently home from his 3rd tour in Iraq) was visiting. The first couple of times he made me drive him around looking for the bandit.

Well, my fiancé was visiting this weekend from APG in Maryland and on Mother's Day we woke up to another hit, the 5th one!!!! The bandit stole another bush and the newly replaced water hose (i secured with zip ties). At the moment of realization of the occurrence, I didn't really feel the pain of this vandal's disregard for my property, hard work and effort. Instead, I felt embarrassment and defeat.

For so long, I would tell my fiancé of how much this neighborhood has been improving and turning around. However, he is so upset, wants to find this guy, and wants to pay for his crime. My fiancé makes reference to serving this country for so many tours, putting his life on the line, and all for this jerk to have the freedom to commit these crimes????

As I backed out of my driveway, this morning, I looked at the 3 remaining blooming bushes and was so embarrassed and disappointed. Then I turned on 970am only to hear about the guy robbed at gunpoint, by 3 kids on bicycles, only a few blocks from my house, in Ybor. For this first time in the 3 years I have lived in this house and neighborhood, I am beginning to fear for my own life.

I am sorry to unload, but I really need some motivation. I truly feel the neighborhood progress is fading and may be taking a turn for the worse.

    Motivation Needed, Please Help!!!

  6. Wow, very sorry to hear about all that, Lorie.

What time of day are you getting your porch/yard looted?

  7. Sorry, it's been a while.... It mostly occurs 12am - 7am on Sat, Sun, and sometimes Monday's. I had a neighbor (he's always picking up yard work in the neighborhood) advise me that there are some guys that live across from him that he has seen stealing plants early in the mornings. Then, they sell them around the neighborhood and at the farmer's market on Hillsborough. He said they drive a red and green truck and do this often... I'm not sure how true this may be, but I told a friend of mine who work for TPD (I hate taking advantage of those relationships) and he said that he was going to find out who's working the neighborhood detail, give them the info, then follow up... I guess we'll see what happens... Thanks
